Bronx native. Nine seasons of pro ball. Four championship rings. Now bringing that experience to every athlete at BVSA.
Jonathan Velasquez is a Bronx native now residing in Stamford who brings nearly a decade of professional baseball experience to BVSA. Over nine seasons in Minor League Baseball and Independent League Baseball, he played for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets organizations, plus top independent teams.
His professional career took him across the country and overseas — including representing Team Puerto Rico in the 2015 Caribbean Series. He earned All-Star honors in both Minor League Baseball and the Puerto Rican Winter League.
Now four years into his coaching career, Jonathan brings that competitive fire into every session at BVSA. He focuses on player development, fundamentals, and the mental side of the game — emphasizing what it actually takes to reach the next level.
Every rep builds the foundation. Jonathan teaches the mechanics that lasted nine professional seasons — and makes them accessible to athletes at every level.
His words: "Seeing young athletes have fun, learn something new, and improve every day." If they love the game, everything else follows.
Four championship rings didn't come from talent alone. Jonathan brings the mindset, preparation habits, and competitive DNA of a career pro into every session.
"I am very pleased with the outcome of Ander's improvements at BVSA! Jon has been doing an amazing job!"
